Its impossible to find the right plugin that does everything you want it to, right? Yes! It is impossible and we all know why. There are 100,000’s of plugins for doing practically anything and everything except what you actually want them to do.

You want to track visitors and you have Google Analytics installed. You installed it using Google Tag Manager ! Why cany you just install Analytics? Because, that’s why.

Its all too easy to be negative and critical but we’re not doing anything other that saying it how it is. GA4 doesn’t track everything you want out of the box and it almost certainly wont do everything you want without it being setup up by someone with a PHD in ridiculousness! code snippets, tracking ids, sessions and events, custom events at that! triggers and actions and additional libraries will all help you set up 80% of effective tracking but something will be missing.

Wait this is where paid for services kick in, services that track everything if you are spending £10k a month on ads! yes you heard that right. And lets not beat about the bush, paying £10k a month is a minimum ad spend if you are to be taken seriously by a marketing agency and this to a marketing agency is taken as a sign you are happy to pay them a minimum of 10% of you ad spend to manage your ad spend.

Now you might say I have deviated away from tracking visitors to talking about ad spend but you know what I’m saying makes sense because you want to know what your traffic to your website is doing, right ? You want to know they are buying or not buying and why. It all becomes crystal clear when you have tracking setup and I say set up because enabling a plugin or addon is not setting up tracking! Adding a snippet of code can in most cases give you a world of details about your website visitors but there is a list of behaviours you’ll want answers to, insights for to make your business grow. Growing your business almost certainly requires traffic to your website and if you’re getting traffic and no business you want to know why. Unless you like guessing !
